Captain Skyler Madison is a seasoned and legendary pilot for a major airline. Alexander Springfield is an attorney and extremely successful real estate investor. They both have reached the top of their chosen careers. They both have a secret. In addition to their professional roles, they share a passion for justice and work in the shadows as special agents for the intelligence gathering division of the Justice Department.

After meeting on a case and successfully working together, Alex and Skye have decided to merge both their talents and their lives. Falling in love was easy, trying to make it work will be the challenge. Multiple tragedies in Skye's life closed an essential part of her off until Alex melted the ice wall around her heart and the steel reinforcements guarding her soul. She couldn't resist him or his plan. As a new cover, she is to become the corporate pilot for Alex's newly formed consolidated company, the Skyward Corporation. They will work together in the open, live together as husband and wife and protect each other in their secret operations for the Justice Department.

Alex waits in the terminal for Skye, who is commanding her last flight for International Airlines, with white Gardenias in his hand, a diamond ring in his pocket and anticipation in his heart. A heart that is in danger of exploding in his chest when International Airline's personnel must make the announcement all airlines dread and all friends and family fear. Flight 127 from London piloted by Captain Skyler Madison has disappeared from the radar screen.

Approximately one hour from the airport, the plane stopped responding to all attempts to communicate.

Even though the immediate assumption is that the plane is down in the ocean, the team at home learns very quickly it was hijacked. Jim Stryker, Skye and Alex's boss at Justice, quickly mobilizes a team to work on the outside to uncover the location of the plane, the reasons for the hijacking and formulate a tactical plan for rescue. Included are Alex, Skye's sister Sloane and his old mentor and trainer from the CIA. Their most important asset, however, is the woman on the inside. Special Agent Skyler Madison.

The hijackers soon discover they picked the wrong plane to take hostage! In the cockpit is their biggest nightmare. Skye manages to get information through to the team that can be used in a rescue attempt. Having to take a beating for her efforts is, in her mind, a small price to pay to deliver intelligence to her boss…and to her partner and fiancé.

When the ordeal is over, Alex takes Skye to his home on the ocean where she slowly heals with the help of family, friends and a new plane. At the same time her body mends, her mind is tortured by nightmares of what will happen to her heart if she stays in the relationship with Alex. Her love pulls her in one direction, her fears in another. Her heart aches and she starts pulling away from the persistence of Alex's love.

At the same time, the hijackers are not done with their mission. Foiled by the captain, the leader seeks retribution and hopes to salvage some of his honor and reputation by coming on shore and taking her hostage once again. Alex's family of cops, however, form a powerful blanket of security. Together they write the final chapter on the powerful cartel behind terror and the vicious leader who had the misfortune of taking on the partnership of Skyler Madison and Alexander Springfield.

In the end, will the ring be on Skye's finger? Will the terrorists be brought to justice in their native land? Will a date for the wedding be set…a date to seal the destiny of two people connected by their love, their passion and their fate.
